HAMILTON Got the Job Done for Immigrants

by | Sep 25, 2017

There’s just no stopping the power and passion of Hamilton fans. The tremendous response to our recent #Ham4All campaign to attend Opening Night of Hamilton in Los Angeles with Lin-Manuel Miranda made a real difference for the Immigrants: We Get the Job Done Coalition, 12 immigrant rights organizations across the country hosted by the Hispanic Federation.

Celebrities like Kristen Bell, Amy Schumer, Jennifer Lopez, Kelly Clarkson, Jonathan Groff, Weird Al Yankovic, Rainn Wilson, and more joined Miranda and Hamilton fans around the world to voice their support of the Coalition by posting “Hamateur” videos of themselves covering their favorite Hamilton songs. Check out these two staff favorites—the Harlem Globetrotters certainly didn’t throw away their shot, and we were down for the count thanks to Erica Peters and her adorable guinea pigs.

Each and every video carried an important message behind it—raising money for the Immigrants: We Get the Job Done Coalition. In the three months since we launched this campaign, the impact has been great:

Lucky winner Maha J. couldn’t contain her excitement. “What an incredible experience this was!” she says. “The night wasn’t just a celebration of celebrity and art. It was a celebration of who we are as a nation and what we should stand for. We see our immigrant and refugee communities and tell them we see you, we love you and we will be fighting with you. “
